New Delhi, Sep 1:  In the wake of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw held a crucial meeting today with representatives from India’s online gaming industry.

The discussions focused on ensuring an orderly and responsible transition for companies impacted by the sweeping ban on real‑money gaming platforms.

The industry delegation highlighted the steps already underway—such as phasing out real‑money offerings and coordinating with payment intermediaries to adhere to the new legal requirements.

In response, Minister Vaishnaw reiterated the government's commitment to fostering a safe and sustainable gaming ecosystem. Stakeholders were advised to prioritize user protection while adapting to the legal framework.

Importantly, the minister reaffirmed that the ban does not affect e‑sports or online social games—segments that the legislation expressly seeks to promote. He underscored the government's broader objective to nurture India’s burgeoning gaming ecosystem, positioning the country as a global hub for game development and creative innovation.

The meeting comes just days after Parliament gave its approval to the bill and it received presidential assent—marking one of the swiftest surges of legislative reform in recent memory.
